Erik Maund, a former Austin auto executive, was involved in a scandalous murder-for-hire scheme. After an affair with Holly Williams, who worked as an escort under the name Layla Love, Maund faced extortion demands from her estranged boyfriend, Bill Lanway. Maund hired Gilad Peled and two former Marines to handle the situation. Instead of opting for legal resolution, the plan escalated to murder. Lanway and Williams were killed by the hired men. Maund, along with the hired operatives, was arrested and convicted of murder-for-hire. They face life sentences, while Peled, who cooperated with authorities, also faces sentencing.
